Ruth Elaine Collard of Baker City, Oregon passed away on September 25, 2019, in Boise, Idaho at St. Alphonsus Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baker City. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery following the service.
Elaine was born June 2, 1935, at Malad City, Idaho, to Thorold and Ruth Helen Peabody. She was the second of two children in the family. She was always very close to her older brother Jake during their growing years being only 13 months younger. Because of her father's type of employment, the family moved many times in the states of Idaho, Utah, Washington, and Oregon.
While residing in Oregon she met and married Leslie Norman Crum in 1953 and they had four wonderful children, Marcy Lynn, Chris Alan, Tracy Wayne, and Susan Marie. When that marriage ended in 1966 she raised her children alone for the next 14 years. She supported her family by working for the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in Baker City, Oregon in the Supervisor's Office, in the Management Services Section.
While working there she met Ernie Collard. They were married in 1980 and had 39 of the best years of their lives. Ernie had three children by a previous marriage two sons and a daughter, Eugene Scott, Bryan Kenneth, and Mariam Kristine.
She is survived by her husband Ernie of Baker City , daughter Marcy Horning and her husband Kelly of Peoria, AZ, her son Tracy Crum and his wife Cris of Alpine, OR, her daughter Susan Crum of Glendale, AZ, her step-children Scott Collard and his wife Rene of Lexington, NC, Bryan Collard and his wife Mary of Baker City and Kristy Miner of Big Sandy, TN, and by 18 grandchildren, and 22 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jake Peabody.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Chris, and granddaughter, Mayce.
