James K. "Ken" Jones, age 87, of Caldwell, Idaho and formerly of Baker City, died March 23, 2020, in Caldwell, Idaho. A memorial service will be held as soon as possible.
Ken was born on August 29, 1932 in Quitman, Arkansas to James and Zula Mae Jones. He helped his family “till” the farm along with his four brothers and sister.
In 1948, Ken moved to Baker, Oregon. This is where he met Virginia Butterfield from Sparta, Oregon, and on October 7th of 1952 they married. They spent 50 years together and had two children, Cheryle and Patrick.
In 1950 Ken joined the Air Force and served his country until 1959. Ken was a very patriotic man and went on to serve beyond his time in the Air Force by serving in the public. In Baker City he was active in the American Legion for over 20 years, Ken was the Commander three different times and drove the legion train in the parades. He served in the Baker Co. Sherriff’s Posse for 10 years. Ken also drove the V.A. van to Boise from Baker once a week for seven years.
Ken worked for Ellingson Lumber Company as a Sawyer for 36 years, this is where he retired. Ken’s co-workers re-named him “Tiny” because he was a large man.
Ken lost his beloved Virginia in 2002. He called her “His Little Momma”. He married his beloved Marleen Hubbs on July 26th, 2003. Marleen and Kenneth spent 17 years together. Both women loved him deeply. He was blessed to have them both in his life. Kenneth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Ken loved and lived life to his fullest. One of his biggest passions was riding his Goldwing motorcycles. This was shared by both Virginia and Marleen. He bragged frequently of riding through 38 states and over 310,000 miles on his bike, including Canada and Mexico.
He is survived by his children, Cheryle Robinson and Patrick (Theresa) Jones; his grandchildren, Jenifer, Katie, Justin and Staci; and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Jaton Jones, Iris Lee and Junior Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Zula Mae Jones and his brothers, Jerrel Jones and Rosco Jones.
