Daniel Ross (Dan) Doucette died on January 30, 2022, in Baker City, Oregon.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 25, 1954, Dan was the oldest child of Rudy and Joanne (Coleman) Doucette. When he was still little, Rudy and Joanne, who had traveled the Professional Rodeo circuit, settled with their young family into a home in the southern California town of Sylmar. This is where Dan spent his childhood, graduating from St. Didacus School and then Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks ( class of '72). He continued his higher education graduating with a degree in economics from UCLA in Brentwood, California. Always a cowboy at heart like his father, Dan grew up roping calves and competing in junior rodeos, college rodeos, and PRCA rodeos in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. At age 18, Dan became a member of both the Screen Extras' and Screen Actors' Guilds and had many successful years performing stunts and doing background work in numerous western TV series and feature films. In addition to performing stunts, his strength, agility, and endurance enabled him to be quite good at other sports, especially baseball, softball, and golf.
In 1977, Dan married Debra Gibb, and together they raised two children, Danelle and Christopher. The family resided in Sylmar, where they purchased and flipped homes before flipping became popular while Dan continued working in the "picture business." They later divorced.
In 1992, Dan married Kristen Ritzinger. The couple relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where they raised their daughter Kendyl. During this time, Dan owned and operated Aurora Construction, building and remodeling commercial properties and restaurants.
In retirement, Dan resided in Salem and later in Baker City, Oregon, near his family. He suffered from chronic, painful health conditions but wasn't one to complain. Always modest, Dan also wasn't one to brag or express his emotions freely, but if you knew him, you understood that his family, children, and grandchildren were his heart and joy. There's no denying that these are the people that he loved the most.
Preceding Dan in death were his parents, Rudy and Joanne Doucette, grandparents Lucien and Rose Marie Doucette, and Ross and Rose Coleman. Loved ones that will miss Dan until they meet again are his sisters Mary Ann Ingram and Lori Wilmes, daughters Danelle Abbott and Kendyl Romaine, and son Christopher Doucette. Dan is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Aidan Abbott, Lyla Abbott, Everett Abbott, Abby Doucette, Emma Doucette, Zoe (Biggs) Doucette and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, Oregon, followed by interment at St. Paul Cemetery on June 10, 2022.
