Tina Brasel, 55, of Baker City, Oregon passed away at her residence on July 9, 2018 surrounded by family.  A visitation will be held at Coles Tribute Center on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Harvest Church in Baker City, Oregon on July 21, 2018, beginning at 3:00 PM. Pastor Brad Phillips, a longtime friend of Tina’s, will officiate.  A reception will immediately follow the service at the church.

Tina was born on May 29th 1963, at Emanuel Hospital, in Portland, Oregon, to Gary and Judy VanGaasbeck. Early in life, she and her family moved to Baker City, where she attended Baker High School, where she met and later married her first husband, Jeff Carpenter. They gave birth to two children, Stacey and Daric.  

Later on,Tina married Kenneth Brasel in November, 2002. They gave birth to their son, Josiah. Together, Tina and her husband pursued their college education through Walla Walla Community College.

Tina loved to cook, garden, teach, and most of all mother. She took care of anyone who was in her presence.  Tina would say being a mother was her greatest accomplishment.

As a child, Tina's favorite hobby was twirling baton.  She started when she was just 5 years old, and even marched in the St. Johns parade in Oregon. She continued baton twirling into high school, moving up to using fire batons skillfully, performing at many events. Tina also sang in the Baker High School choir, and in a singing group called Reflections.

According to her family, Tina will be remembered for the love she had for her husband and children, her ability to overcome suffering, sense of humor, her loving embrace, and her tireless efforts to make everyone comfortable and happy.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth, ex-husband Jeff, parents Gary and Judy, mother-in-law Lucille, brothers Brad and Andy, and her children, Stacey, Daric, and Josiah, grandchildren Rowen and Isabella, and several nieces and nephews.
