Janet Elaine Shepardson, 83, of Baker City, Oregon passed away at her residence in Settler's Park Assisted Living Community on July 28, 2018.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 10th, 2018 at Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place Street, in Baker City, with Reverend Don Hanna officiating.  Friends are invited to join the family for a reception at the Baker United Methodist Church, 1919 2nd Street, Baker City immediately following the funeral service.   

Janet was born on August 16, 1934 in Baker, Oregon. She attended Baker schools and graduated in the class of 1952. Janet went to work right out of high school. She began working at Baker State Bank in 1953 as a secretary, spending the last 15 years as the Branch Service Officer. She retired after 36 years of working in the same banking branch in April, 1989. She lived all of her life in Baker City.

Janet was active in the community, joining the Soroptimists and continuing for 27 years, Sumpter Valley Railroad where she had several titles including treasurer, and she was a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. She was also a member of the American Cancer Society for 23 years.

Janet liked to bowl, golf, and go fishing with her best friend Pat Edson. She liked taking care of her house and flower beds.

Survivors include her cousins Beverly and Maurice McKinnis, Glenn McKinnis, Teresa and James Millwood, Robert Watson, Patty Bradford all of Baker City, Oregon; Ronald and Jennifer McKinnis of Hermiston, Oregon; Cheryl and Mike Clow, Richard Rocci and Stuart Trenholme of Portland, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her father, M.E. (Red) Shepardson; her mother, Mildred Ernestine Bradford Shepardson; and her sister, Joan Shepardson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to Heart-N-Home Hospice though Coles Tribute Center at 1950 Place Street, Baker City, OR 97814.
