Gordon Eugene Bloom, age 79, passed away on August 9, 2018 at his residence in Baker City. 

Gordon was born on October 11, 1938 in Baker, Oregon to C.H. (Red) and Maude Bloom. He attended Baker High School and graduated in 1956.

On April 11, 1959, Gordon married Virginia Langley in Baker, Oregon and together they had two children, a son Gene and a daughter Gere. Gordon and Virginia were married for 59 years. In the years with his wife and children, he coached little league teams. When he was not coaching, he was a hard working man at Basche Sage Hardware as a buyer. In the free time he had, he was a volunteer fire fighter for the Baker City Fire Department.

Gordon loved to be outside experiencing the outdoors with his family and friends. He loved to go camping, hunting, fishing and going for drives looking for anything and everything. He also loved to garden. When not enjoying the outdoors, Gordon was an avid Nascar, baseball and football fan. He was a life time member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, a member of the Trail Tenders and he participated in the Old Oregon Trail Ride for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Bloom of Baker City; son, Gene Bloom of Salem, Oregon; daughter, Gere Richardson of Baker City, Oregon; brothers, Wayne Bloom and Ron Bloom of Baker City, Oregon; grandchildren: Beth Accinelli of Bend, Oregon; Doug Bloom of Colorado; Kial Brotherson of Fruitland, Idaho; Trace Richardson of Baker City, Oregon; and great-granddaughter, Ella Richardson of Baker City, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. (Red) Bloom and Maude Bloom.
