Juanita (Nita) Hendriksen, 84, of Baker City, Oregon passed away April 28th
2017 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 17, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, as the youngest of 13 children. Juanita will be remembered for her unconditional love of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She worked for the St. Elizabeth Hospital many years ago but retired as cashier for City of Baker. Nita married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Hendriksen, January 16, 1954 in Baker. They continued to build their life together for 63 years. Together, they had one daughter and three sons; family was everything to her. The true joy in her life was participating and watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's activities and sports; being present for every important milestone in their lives. If help was needed, she could always be counted on to be there with open heart and hands. Nita loved the outdoors and was one of the founders of the Oregon Trail Ride. She and Bob helped organize and managed this for many years. She was also a volunteer at the Senior Center and an active member of the community. Nita loved her monthly Bunco club. She will be missed and cherished forever in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Cook and Grace (Ward) Cook, along with 11 siblings.
Nita is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Hendriksen of Baker City; brother Lloyd Cook of Baker City; four children-Ron Hendriksen of Tri Cities. Rhonda (Brian) Erwin of Baker City, Rod (Etta Lu) Hendriksen of Prairie City, Ray Hendriksen of Salem; Eleven grandchildren-Cindy (Eric) Bryant, Ricky Davis, Stephanie Hendriksen, Thomas Hendriksen, Christopher Hendriksen, Carmon Hendriksen, Dylan (Jenna) Hendriksen, Danika Hendriksen, Robert Hendriksen, Ryan Hendriksen, Kyle Hendriksen, and Twelve great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions maybe made to: Heart N Home Hospice or a children's charity of your choice through Coles Tribute Center at 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
There will be a celebration of her life Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 2-4 P.M. At Community Connection 2810 Cedar Street Baker City, OR. All family and friends are invited to come for a time of sharing and refreshments. Dress is casual.
